Newfound Dinosaur Tracks!   [Report Abuse]

Posted by: animali.tv
A number of fascinating fossilised dinosaur tracks have been found in the mud in south-western Arkansas. The tracks of several species of dinosaur including the eight ton Acrocanthosaurus atokensis –one of the largest predators to ever exist – were found walking in the space of something akin to the size of a football field, along with the tracks of the sauropods – a long necked plant eater. This amazing set of tracks was clearly left in what was considered several thousand year old cretaceous limestones.Image By: mrmoorey
Scientists estimate that at the time of the prints the Arkansas area was a terrain similar to the modern day shores of the Persian Gulf – hot, dry, and salty. Geoscientist Stephen Boss is the head of the team currently studying and learning form the facts presented by this set of tracks. It has been ascertained that the larger and predatory Acrocanthosaurus were probably led to the site due to the sauropods that they could have fed on. He clearly stated that they were puzzled by the reason behind the sauropods being there due to the prediction that there was not much in the way of edible foliage available to the beasts.
Though found in many locations of the United States, dinosaur tracks in the southern part of the country are much more infrequent and rare. Dinosaurs were naturally thought to inhabit parts such as Colorado and Utah due to their more lush nature, but the facts that have currently risen had presented information otherwise.
Another amazing reality that was revealed in this study was that the weight distribution of the predatory beast (Acrocanthosaurus atokensis) tends to prove that he was a much more pigeon toed beast than previously expected. As this pretty long case continues to unfold, new facts keep popping up and getting better all the time.
